Parco Verde in Caivano is a public housing community that became home to many families after the devastating Naples earthquake of the 1980s. Even 40 years later, the impact of that tragedy remains deeply felt, with efforts to fully heal the wounds still ongoing despite numerous public initiatives.
Amid this backdrop, the Delphinia Sports Center emerges as a beacon of hope and opportunity for urban renewal. This expansive green space, now undergoing revitalization by the state, is set to become a vibrant hub for local residents. By creating shared spaces that promote connection and a sense of belonging, the project aims to breathe new life into the community and inspire a brighter future for Parco Verde.
Il Parco Verde di Caivano è un quartiere di case popolari che ha vissuto l’afflusso di numerose famiglie in seguito al terremoto di Napoli degli anni Ottanta. Il sisma di quarant’anni fa ha lasciato una ferita aperta, non ancora rimarginata nonostante gli interventi pubblici.
Nella zona, la presenza del centro sportivo Delphinia è una stimolante opportunità di rigenerazione urbana. Si tratta di una vasta area verde che lo Stato ha deciso di rivitalizzare e mettere a disposizione dei residenti, favorendo il senso di appartenenza e condivisione dei luoghi.
In Caivano, NeA has harnessed the transformative power of green spaces and sports to design pathways and outdoor infrastructure that blend harmoniously with the natural environment. This thoughtful intervention aims to foster social renewal by crafting spaces of beauty that invite connection, activity, and community interaction. Through this integration of nature and sport, NeA is paving the way for a more vibrant and inclusive future.
Qui NeA ha colto la magica combinazione di verde+sport disegnando percorsi e infrastrutture legate all’outdoor e perfettamente inserite in un contesto naturale. L’intervento è pensato al fine di influenzare e indirizzare la rigenerazione sociale aprendo spazi di bellezza e occasioni.
To highlight the impact and significance of the site’s redevelopment, trees and plants from the Mediterranean scrub were carefully selected for their resilience and rich symbolic meaning. The corbezzolo tree represents a sense of homeland, the carob tree—known as the “tree of conversation”—invites connection, and the olive tree stands as a timeless emblem of peace and renewal. Together, these elements create a landscape that tells a powerful story of resilience, community, and hope.
Per rendere immediata l’idea e la dimensione dell’impatto di riqualificazione del sito, sono stati scelti alberi ed essenze della macchia mediterranea tra i più resistenti alle avversità naturali e dalle forti significazioni narrative: il corbezzolo, simbolo della patria, il carrubo, o albero della chiacchera, e l’olivo, emblema di pace e rinascita.
The layout and height of the vegetation have been meticulously planned to ensure clear and organized communication between spaces, enhancing both safety and visibility throughout the area. To support biodiversity while minimizing maintenance costs, wild herbs were chosen as ground cover. These resilient plants create a lush, green lawn effect with no water impact, blending sustainability with beauty.
At NeA, we hope this project will inspire the citizens of Caivano to reimagine and redefine Parco Verde, reconnecting with the true meaning of this name (Green Park). Our aim is to help the community move beyond the difficult events of the past and embrace a future filled with hope and renewal.

Si sono scelti copri-suolo di erbe infestanti, senza costi, per contribuire alla biodiversità del sito conservando un effetto prato verde a impatto idrico 0.
Tutti noi di NeA ci auguriamo che ben presto, anche grazie al nostro progetto, le cittadine e i cittadini di Caivano ricomincino a parlare del Parco Verde in termini di significato evocativo e specifico del nome, allontanando i ricordi degli episodi drammatici che lo hanno portato sulle pagine dei giornali.
